Bruce Djite: One of the new breed playing overseas
Anyone else get the feeling the same old "soccer" bashers are starting to find their voices again all of a sudden?
It comes at a convenient time when football is enjoying record financial backing from the Australian government from a prime minister who is fully aware of the massive impact of the world game in the international arena.
Im no Kevin Rudd fan, but his financial support of football is welcome following years upon years of Canberra ignoring the world game, granted the old guard at Soccer Australia was run like the Titanic in comparison to the FFA's well oiled machine.
And it is this that appears to have worried the rugby league and AFL die-hards, and rightly so. Qualifying for the football world cup is a much bigger achievement than winning the rugby league world cup or winning the AFL premiership.
Next time you see a "soccer" bashing article just remind yourself what agenda they are pushing for, afterall, football is the future.
